Help - Cragar wheels - can't be this hard

I just bought a 67 Galaxie 500 convertible about a month ago and it came with a nice looking set of Cragar mag wheels. They require the longer shank lugnuts and the offset washers. I've been overhauling the brakes and I've had to take the tires on and off multiple times while I'm going thru that process. Those wheels are the most aggravating thing to deal with. There has got to be a trick to getting those things on and off. The stud is of regular length and I'm having trouble getting the studs lined up in the hole, the washer in the correct position, the lugnut lined up so that the threads will catch, etc., etc. What is the secret? They look great on the car but I am beginning to question if they are worth the effort.

Frustrating isn't it!!! I had some ET's too like that. To keep the washers in the right place just stake them. Put them in the slot and use a fine pointed punch. Punch a tiny dot on the lip where the washer sits in the wheel. Do one on all four sides. All you're doing is moving the metal a little to make the washer slot tighter. The washers will stay in place when you lift the wheel in to place.
Turn the hub so one lug is at the top. Gently pop your wheel on and put that lug on first about 3/4 of the way. Should be easy to do the rest.

Thanks. The wheels really look good on the car but with the vehicle being new to me I am constantly taking off the wheels to check the brakes and make sure everything is working properly. They are so hard to get back on it is really discouraging and time consuming to screw with these things. I'm tempted to head to Pull A Part and get some no frill wheels.
