So the True Flow is still available, for the everday low price of $245. WOW.
I wish they sold just the portion that inserts into the fender wall. I'll have to get on the Google hunt for that.
$225.49 at Amazon?
I like it, but am happy the PO put it on at those prices, though it is well made. Great foam filter comes with it, and the long straight tube is actually aluminum and has a bracket midway that bolts to the truck's bracket with a rubber isolator. If you get one used, or new, do not over tighten clamps on the two rubber tubes where they clamp the plastic adapter or larger snorkle tube at the fender.
I actually removed the clamp at the fender mounted snorkle end as the red rubber is a snug fit and it ain't gonna pull off, so it let's it slip if needed under load. Even if it did, that's way before the filter, etc.
From the second link in post #3 page 8 shows using a 3" pipe from Spectre, part #8741. I did that but with a twist. They used a 3" to 4" converter to connect the 3" Spectre pipe to the flexible part of stock intake. I forgot to get that and discovered something else. The Spectre part comes with two connectors that screw on to the hose. When I removed the flexible part of the stock connector I noticed that the Spectre connector just barely fit inside the stock pipe. And when I screwed the flex pipe into the stock pipe it got even tighter.
I finally got around to my Gotts Mod/Snorkel delete yesterday. Used 3" DWV PVC pipe, sanded down to fit the opening, much like the PHP forum posting outlines. Couldn't find black, so had to apply some rattle spray for plastics.
Haven't noticed any additional engine bay noise, but I do believe that the engine is breathing a little better above 4k RPMs.
Is it ok to use standard PVC pipe rather than a drain waste PVC pipe? I installed a 3.5" OD and 3.0" ID regular white PVC pipe Today on my Superduty with the 5.4. I used silicone to seal where the pipe went into the stock air cone.. I am sure it is fine but I have not seen anyone use a simple one like this yet.

Happy Monday fellas!
Any change needed for the custom tune???? or is it ok

Nope no change needed. It's not enough air flow to need a different MAF to account for the increase. The guys @ PHP discussed this in length.
I do honestly feel that the truck does breath a little better in the higher rev range though, and for $10 and about 2 hours of my time, why not try it?
Mine has recently started to vibrate in the opening though. It's tight in the firewall hole, but the end of the pipe touches the fender wall hole just enough to cause this really odd buzzing creak sound. I have to adjust it about once a week when I hear it. Not a big deal, and I probably sanded just a little too much off of it.

Did you follow the one from Kd 4crs
. [B]One female-to-female 3 inch black ABS coupler
3. One rubber downspout connector from the plumbing section of Lowe's or Home Depot. (Lowe's item number 23455.)
I did My Gotts mod today very simple no sanding needed the rubber down spout in the fender opening stops rattle. if you did not do it its easy to change. no more problems. just saying
Just did my Gotts mod today....13.99 for a 3 ft piece of ABS pipe and 10.99 for a 3" coupling ...... didn't use the coupling just the hose clamp off it and i used the pedestal grinder to modify the pipe. Need to smooth it a little for asthetics but it took abt 1.5 hours to do and it fit great!.

To bad you did not use the DWV mod its a 15 minute install no grinding the lowe's rubber down spout is the key.
So I was working on the truck this afternoon and all this talk about this mod got me curious. I had some 4" corrugated drainage pipe and a 4" ADS snap adapter lying around. I think they're $2-3 at Lowes. Just cut off a 7" piece and trim the snap adapter so there's plenty of clearance for air inside the fender. Surprisingly, the drainage pipe snaps right into the stock bellow piece like it was meant to be. I probably spent more time wrestling the stock pipe off the bellow than anything else. Not bad for a next-to-no-cost 15minute mod :-)
I took it around the block for a quick spin. I don't hear or feel any difference
That occurred to me, but it's 4" vs a smooth 3" PVC/ABS pipe. A 4" diameter pipe has about 1.8 times more cross-sectional area than a 3" pipe, so corresponding flow velocity is slower and less susceptible to those ridges. I'm no fluid dynamics expert, but my thinking is it'll all come out as a wash. Well, it didn't cost me anything but 15minutes. I can always revert to stock :-)
I've got a 30mile freeway trip tomorrow; I'll have a chance to try it out.
