Just put a e4od from a 90 bronco 5.8 into my 93 F-350 5.8. Trans was supposedly rebuilt not sure how many miles on it. It has been running great, but yesterday I went to get a load of wood on my 16' trailer and got the trailer hung up in the field. After rocking the truck back and forth (from rev to drive and so on) now when it shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd it almost feels like wheel hop or something. Almost like it's shifts into gear.....then does it again. Checked fluid....re-checked u-joints for tightness but can't figure out why it's doing it. Other than that it runs great. Any ideas would be great!!
ok...here is an update....I went to pick up my 16' trailer that is loaded sown with wood....while driving back it didn't seem to shift the same way...it seemed to shift just fine...I'm really confused...just put this tranny in last weekend and don't realy want to get another one
Have you checked for trouble codes?
When you did the trans swap did you fit an updated transmission range sensor or reuse the old one? If still the old one might be worth thinking about replacing it.
If youre talking about the sensor on the side where the shift selector is....its new....could it just need to he re adjusted.....actually....drove it for the first time today and it seems to have quit doing it....is it possible that the computer needed time to catch up?
If the marks were lined up when the TRS was fitted it should not need adjusted again and the computer should recognize it from the word go.
Have you checked to see if there are any trouble codes?
Ok....im a dumb ***....it felt kinda lime axle wrap does so i decided to check for something loose.....it helps to tighten the volts on the tail shaft to the crossmember after reinstalling your transmission....lol
Ha. Happens to the best of us. I thought I had a trans problem awhile back after doing some work on the truck. Turns out I forgot I had the t case in neutral, lol. Took me a minute to figure it out. I even posted about it. Glad you got it fixed.
