Late this afternoon, when I returned from work, my yellow lab, Rusty, had some breathing issues. He got up, we went for a short walk, and he collapsed in the yard. My friends and I got him to our front porch - his favorite place - and I called the vet as I knew it was " time ". Our vet, who is also a farm vet, said he would come to the house to put Rusty down between 8:30-9:00, but would call first. About 8:00, after telling him how much I loved him, and after petting him, he began to breathe differently. I held his head and he licked my face. In a moment he was gone. But he died on his own, with those who he loved the most and who loved him the most. This is a loss I will never get over, but I thank each and every one of you for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers.
may he R.I.P im so sorry, and if you need anyone to talk to everyone on FTE is family were here for ya bud. and from the last post on rusty in the dog topic you were sayin it was almost time. at least he didnt suffer and he knew he had it good, thats all dogs need.
as once said in marley and me
"dogs dont care if ur smart or dumb, skinny or big, rich or not, a water logged stick and some careing love is all they want. and sir you did just that. wish u the best of luck
I'm so sorry Buck. These are humbling and trying times, like loosing your child.
Do yourself a favor and rescue a dog Buck. You are clearly a loving soul who could provide a dog with a great home.
I saw a bumper sticker the other day in the form of a dog's paw and it said "who rescued who? Thinking of my two dogs, I started tearing up right there.
That does suck. Had to let my black lab buddy go last Dec. Still think he is around especially when walking in our favourite places. Wife doesn't want another dog but that will change and it will be a rescue lab. Got to love those labs. You have all those good memories to keep you company. All the best.
