Definitely get rid of that downpipe. It's as flat as a pancake. The cat dont help either. I can't post pics right now, but somebody will. Get the 6637 air filter, you can put one together fairly cheap. Once again, somebody will post pics. You will feel the difference and hear the turbo sing

Quick question, I can't remember if I read or was told that it is best to run these auto tranny's with the OD off unless on the highway is that true? I deffinetly understand it with 3.55's but wanted the forums take on it. Also, I have a buddy that own's a company towing campers across North America and he has a switch wired to manually lock the converter on his truck ('01 Cummins) has anybody else done this? My understanding is by locking the converter in D it lowers the R's and allows the tranny to run cooler?

I guess earlier I didn't mention why I decided to buy the truck and thought I would mention it.
First is the clean body, the guy was very upfront about the flaws and I didn't find any that he didn't point out.
Second is, the new tranny. Though it wasn't built for performance, knowing it is fresh gives piece of mind.
Third, there was no fluid in the valley and engine compartment is clean (not spotless like it was detailed, but no caked on grime from leaking now or in the past), and the airbox had the recall mentioned earlier done. Turbo was clean as well. My buddy was surprised that you couldn't even smell diesel under the hood (I don't know if that should be surprising).
Fourth was that at the second test drive, it was completely cold when I got their, hadn't been run at all that day, and it fired up fine with ZERO smoke. It lightly puffed faint white at the first combustion, which I am sure was just the condensation clearing. It wasn't lasting or anything, just a quick puff I would call normal for anything.
Fifth, and lastly, the wife liked it. All the power stuff worked good inside, A/C blew ice cold. It also already has the brake control in it and is ready to hook and go.
On a side note and an unofficial selling point is that both tanks are solid, and functional and FULL. I couldn't push for a lot lower price on principal. They guy said he had more than $6300 into it without 2 full tanks and I highly believe it so that is what I paid and couldn't be happier.
I will post better pics when I get it home this week.
