Thanks for the quick reply alloro. I got it replaced. The engine light is off and it idles well in park and neutral, but still a little rough in gear. Any ideas? Will it just have to work itself out.
One of the error codes said it was running rich, so thinking that might need to run for a bit.

You're lucky it's #1, that one is fairly easy to get to. Now if it was #4 or #8 (the back two), then you'd be in for a real treat.

You may have another misfiring plug, it just hasn't gotten frequent enough for a code to be set. Our 2003 started the same way running a little rough under load, then getting to where there was an occasional misfire at idle. No codes. Finally got a code and then another before I could get to fixing the first one. The #6 & #7 springs in the boots were rusty from water dripping on them.
Could be a sticking fuel injector, but I haven't had that problem with ours.

The ECM learns how to control the engine based on various sensors. Now that you've corrected the misfire in #1 those stored parameters are theoretically no longer accurate. You could try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes to wipe the ECM memory. Then after driving about 20 miles it will have relearned how to control the engine again. If that doesn't correct the problem you might have to clean the IAC valve as shown in this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...4l-triton.html
