I did a little research just because I'm curious, and no one else has answered. I haven't yet found the width of the rear axle in a Country Squire or LTD, but the Slick's rear axle should measure 60" from axle flange to axle flange. I know that's only half the info you need, but I hope it helps.
How about using a rear diff set up from the 71 Country Squire in a slick, how does the width match up?
1971 LTD Country Squire could have 3 different rear axles.
1) WER 8.7 integral.
2) 9" with R/L specific 28 spline axleshafts.
3) 9" w/a 9 3/8" ring gear.
Even though classified as a 9, with a 9 3/8" ring gear, only five internal parts are the same: Housing gasket, pinion seal, (1) pinion bearing and race, pilot bearing retainer.
Everything else is different!
1965 and later Galaxie/LTD's have rear coil springs, trailing arms and a track bar.

1965 and later Galaxie/LTD's have rear coil springs, trailing arms and a track bar. This is the set up in the car I'm getting. Is the width comparable to use in my 61? It would be fairly easy to make mounts to use all the stock arms from the wagon and just make a bracket for air bags
ND it does have the rear coils, I got the motor running today ,it does not smoke at all, forward gear does not work, I could cut off all the mounting brackets and weld them to a 9 inch, yes? Lots of work but I think it would be a cool install! I want to build my 61 on a so called budget build.
429, It does not have the same 5 on 5.5" wheel bolt pattern. You would have to run 2 sets of wheels, no rotating.

Ahhh Sensai you forgot that I already did the Aerostar install
Plus I'll be running different size wheels and tires left to right for turning left mostly...lol
On a serious note I want a street truck look so I'll have wider tires on the rear!
