Just about finished up the center console! Glassed the cupholders and bolted them in, made the tray too. Just need to get some chrome edging for the tray and it'll be done.

Got the overhead console glassed, bondoed, and primed. I had to make a frame to mount it and stiffen it up. Gonna paint it tomorrow if I can find the right paint. Ill be adding chrome edging to that too.

Looking good! So what's going to go in the overhead console?

Bunch of unlabelled switches I presume? Yay for switches!

Yep! and a CB! Im thinking about printing off labels with black backgrounds and white lettering to put in the console and then light them up from the back so I know what does what. jgavac had the idea of map lights so I may make cut-outs for plexiglass inserts with lights behind.

Ok, consoles are in the truck. Dont have a pic of the center one at the moment but...

I printed out labels that match the light & wiper labels

Those will go behind plexiglass lenses and be back-lit with a similar greenish color. I cut out a piece of aluminum and bolted it to the OH console. Later Ill bend the part in front of the mounting screws in an L shape and mount the labels on that.

2 questions:

1) How the he// am I gonna cut out a square opening measuring approx. 1/2x1 in 16ga aluminum? Push come to shove, I know a guy who has one of those hydraulic presses that can punch any size hole, but it would be a month or so before I could get it to him and get it back.

2) Where is the dome light wiring routed? I know it goes down the B pillar but where before that?

1) Use a hack saw. A pneumatic one from Harbor freight is cheap and works well for things like this. Drill a hole big enough to get the blade in and go to town. A circular saw with a sharp, wood blade also does well on aluminum. It's how I cut my 1/8" - 1/4" aluminum sheet.

2) It's on the floor before it goes up the b pillar.

Actually, I have one of those pneumatic saws from HF. Good idea

I dont see any wires going across the floor except the ones for the seat belt, and I dont have carpet so it would stick out like a sore thumb.

For the wires - try looking for something going into the a pillar ar about top of dash level (hard to do with the dash in) and then running up the a pillar, over the door and around over the window.

Exactly what I said, just a type-o as usual from me on the "ar pillar" - that was supposed to read "at pillar"

I still think the majority of mine have been on the floor and then up the b pillar like I said in the earlier post, but it's been a while since I really looked.

Your entitled to your opinion. Is just fiberglass with a skim-coat of bondo and then painted. I was never able to get the bondo smoothed out like I wanted it to be. An extra layer or two of fiberglass would have helped a bit, but I ran out of glass. It'll look alot better with a CB and switches hanging from it. Im also gonna get a can of satin clear coat because the shine it has on it now just looks unnatural.

I think a satin finish would look better. A high gloss like that accents any flaws. I very seldom use high gloss
