My field crew will hardly notice the difference in HP. They shouldnt be using full HP anyway. May be some midnight service work coming up.
I will check back in tomorrow if I get time.
Thanks for staying with me on this.

Is there a way to post a pic on forum messages? Would be useful to point out what I am talking about.
My field manager's truck is a 2007 4.6L and I will compare the connections to see if there is a reason to get the whole assembly. If it is a like for like match-up, I may just rob it from his truck which is getting pushed downstream to the field crews. May have lucked out there. 17 extra HP found sitting around in my parking lot...

However, he thought there might be some fit-up issues with the inlet port, such that I would have to get the plenum elbow as well. I need to check out the fleet vehicle and ensure I am not wasting $$ and time.
BTW - he mentioned I have a VIN#W series. What is that all about?
Nevermind. I decoded it. I guess there were two different series of F150 4.6L Series 6 and series W. Hmm. Okay, I change my question. Whats the difference between the two?
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Havent figured out how to effectively post pics on this forum, so I attach the above link to show the differences in manifold assemblies between the 2003 and 2007 F-150 4.6L engines.
Both pics were taken standing square in front of the engines. The TB for 2007 can be seen to be pointing at 5 o'clock. The 2003 is pointing square to 6 o'clock. (The CAI is skewed however.)
Also, the 2007 is ALL plastic, including the plenum elbow which didnt even appear to have a bolt on connection - perhaps the reason Ford sells what looks like the whole thing as a unit. The 2003 is ALL aluminum? Cast something, but not plastic. Plenum opening appear of different size, but couldnt tell the shape of it (oval or round).
It appears the 2007 has a cable-less accelerator. 2003 is cable activated. While this wouldnt normally be a problem, with the TB at an angle, it would be difficult to make the stock cable bracket work.
Dang. Sure seemed like a silver bullet...

03 4.6 intake

If the 03 4.6 is all aluminum, it can all be ported.
07 4.6 intake
Forgot to mention that in appearance the 07 manifold has a noticably lower stance than the 03, confirming its more car-like HP short tube approach. It is hard to say how the intake elbow compares as the plastic would be so much thinner than the aluminum cast 03 elbow. But looking at it, it has quite a sharp turn at the throat.
All in all, not a very attractive top end, but must do the trick.
Thanks for the photo instructional.

Edelbrock 28385 - Edelbrock Victor Jr. EFI Intake Manifolds - Overview - SummitRacing.com
He said they gained 39 HP over the Trickflow manifold that he started with (he's a Trickflow dealer), although he didnt use the TF heads. He had ported heads. He also ported the inlet elbow/plenum as well.
Could be an interesting project ahead...
I went ahead and installed an E-fan today. Had to do something! I also ordered a Cervini ram air hood and intend to duct it to the CAI in anticipation of more intake capacity!
Fun to be back in the modifying mode.
