Ok ive got a 2002 Ford F-150, when i go to take a corner and have to brake hard, or just brake then gas it around the corner, and when i have to stop suddenly say at a stop light or someone hitting there brakes infront of me. My truck, gah i dont know how to describe it, i would say stall, but the engine is still running the stearing wheel locks up on me cant turn it at all, then when i finally come to a stop(thank god the breaks work) the engine is jumpy, as if im reving the engine and holding the brake. Then when i look at the dash the Service Engine Soon light is on. Ive taken it in they cant find a problem with it at all, my ABS light is on, was wondering if that is what is causing it. But they told me the sensor was just no good, i just dont have the money to replace it atm.(Min. Wage sucks) But if yall can help that would be great i dont want to have to take it back to the Ford Shop they charge to much :S
My opinion is you have a problem that needs to use a Scanner to 'trap' the issue when it happens if the CEL and code does not show full time.
Doing this should show what is happening, then you decide what to do about it.
As for the ABS, you just lose that function and not the whole braking system unless something else is wrong at the same time. You can put that off but don't drive aggressively expecting any help from ABS on panic braking.
My guess is the motor is shutting down but coming alive again before it completely stops rotating. There are certain rare conditions it can happen from.
Get the fault trapped then you have a starting point for repair.
The shop you used should have a good scanner to do it with if they will take the time.
Good luck.
