Just took left DRB factory installed from 2007 explorer lubed and cleaned up ,cleaned motor. Re-installed now it works but backwards up door open, down door closed. With door open I took off motor cover and turned down by hand I thought it would re-adjust it self but didn't. Can someone advise me as what to do.
Thanks

Thanks Rod,
I only disconnected the harness coupling and it can only go together one way I think will look later I'm new at this chat stuff thanks again
So when you cleaned the motor you left the wires connected? If you don't find something else obvious, you could reverse the wires at the motor and that should get it going in the correct direction. I'd then carefully connect it (be ready to disconnect it in a hurry) and check the operation, making sure the limit switches correctly engage.
I should add that I've never had one of these apart so I don't know if they use limit switches or how they know to "stop" when they get to deployed or rest positions.
I was looking through the factory service manual troubleshooting steps for the Power Running Boards. The manual mentions that you should be able to set the system to the "out" mode which would keep the running boards deployed when below 5mph and they would not be activated by the doors. Have you tried this mode to see if the boards remain in the rest position, correctly stay in the out position, or cycle open to closed? If they correctly stay in the out position, you would not want to reverse the motor wires. If they cycle, then the motor may be wired backwards or you may have debris in one of the pivot points.
