oil leak help

i really need u guys help i think i have an oil leak out of my rear main seal but i just found out that on powerstrokes its unlikley for one to leak and an oil leak is usually caused by o ring on the top of the motor is a idi similer i really dont want to go threw all the trouble of dropping the trans to find out that wasnt the problem any feed back would be appreciated thanx

I would definately check the oil sending unit on the top right at the back of the block, the rear main has taken the blame for the sending unit many times.

Also if anything is leaking on top of the motor (like the injection pump, CDR valve or a turbo) it collects in the valley pan and then drains out the passenger side rear and will run down the back of the motor and either end up near the starter or look like a rear main leak. So you could check around there as well.
