I want to say mid to late 90's, It was a round body, not the square. Same size and the Aerostar grill I believe. It's been a few years.

I think the first year of the blue oval on the back of a ranger, rather the word FORD, was 94 or 95.

I thought about hunting down a tailgate emblem to add to the tailgate of my mazda truck, since it was built by ford.....

I'm pretty sure the emblem on my grille came from an 86 E-Series. Keep in mind that the newer emblems are much flatter than the older emblems are.

Flatter isn't a problem. May not be technically correct but lots better than what most of us have. Tnx.

I got mine from a late 80's E-150 Van. It is just like the original one.

E7TZ-9842528-A (replaced E2TZ-8213-A, E2TZ-9842528-A) .. Blue Oval Emblem / Available from Ford

Applications: Myriad 1982/98 F100/350, F(Super Duty), Bronco grilles/tailgates / Econoline grilles / 1987/2001 Ranger tailgate (and mebbe later, no catalog after 2001).

Bill, I think the sources may be wrong on this one. The emblem from my 82-86 grille on the F100 is significantly larger than the tailgate emblem on my 03 Ranger. The F100 emblem is even slightly bigger than the Ranger's grille emblem. I believe that the Ranger's Ford emblem on the tailgate was downsized in 1993, and wasn't changed until 2006 when they went back to the larger emblem centered on the tailgate instead of to the right where it has been since 1987. The 2006-2011 tailgate emblem may fit the front grille of an 80-91, but I'm not certain.

Gary, just as an FYI, the newer emblems on 04+ F-series and 06+ Rangers are very prone to flaking, so your chances of finding a used one in good shape may be a little slim. Ford had a similar problem back in the 80's as well, which is why it's so hard to find good 80's emblems as well.

Where did I state positively this emblem was used after 2001?

I spent 20 minutes looking thru the moulding sections of the 1980/89 & 1990/2001 truck parts catalogs inre to Ranger tailgates from 1983 thru 2001.

Since I have no truck parts catalog after 2001 .. I was not sure if it was used after 2001 .. so I said mebbe (maybe) later.

I attemped to find out by using PARTSGUYED's website, but some of the applications inre to which specific vehicles used this emblem, and the years it was used are vague.

Chris (ctubutis) posted the part number originally (Post #4, listed no Ranger ref).

When someone said that he didn't believe Rangers used a blue oval until 1993 or 1994, and I knew it was used before then, I added the Ranger info and etc.

Chris also suggested typing the part number into Ed's site...to see all the applications.

Bill, in your post, you stated that your truck catalog listed the emblem as fitting not only the F-series, Bronco, and Econoline, but also 1987/2001 Ranger tailgate emblems. Then you stated that maybe the emblems after 2001 would fit as well. However it is fact that 1993-2005 Ranger tailgate emblems do not fit the F-Series/Econoline/Bronco, so I was simply pointing out that in that aspect, the catalog is mistaken. My post was just to clarify that 1993-2005 Ranger tailgate emblems will NOT fit the grille of an 82+ F-series truck, due to the smaller size. I also added that the 06+ trucks gained a larger emblem so that others can consider those since they may fit an 82+ grille due to their larger size.

No way in this world could anyone expect that you would know what every emblem fits. I was simply pointing out that the catalog listing was wrong, not you.
