Gearbox adjusting nut seal?
If it is replaceable, does anyone know where I can get one and what the part # might be?
I have the HCD-B1 gearbox.
NumberDummy - I have found prior posts with the part #'s for the parts in the box. I have sourced the lower seal (near the pitman arm) and the cased needle bearings locally but could you list the locations of the other replaceable parts if/when you have time please? I know you've done it a thousand times in the past but I would appreciate it.
thanks!!
What seal, what does it look like? The parts catalog pic doesn't show one.

I don't see any seal in this location.
Steering gear parts: New 1961/63 Uni forum / Thread titled: 64 Manual Steering Gear Box / See Post #20 (why FTE moved this thread there, I dunno, it's not Uni related).

The 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for 22 bucks / Text ~ Section 35.1 ~ Page 17: Parts List #26 is for the HCD-B1 C5TZ-3504-D M/S gearbox.
Secondly, the rubber seal I'm talking about is in the large adjuster nut where the steering shaft comes out of it and the steering coupler (rag joint) hooks onto the steering shaft. The large adjust nut has a rubber seal in it.
Maybe this never needs replaced as I imagine there's no gearbox fluid that gets that high.
Also, what type of fluid should I put in this gearbox? Thanks!
High Buck! BOB ALLEN FORD in Overland Park KS has 1 = 800-676-0675 / This snake wants mega-bucks for obsolete parts!
COLLECTORS AUTO SUPPLY in Oroville WA has 1 = 800-414-4462.
TISON MOTOR SALES in Estill SC has 1 = 803-625-2551.
MUSTANG'S ETC in Van Nuys CA has 18 = 818-787-7634.
M/S gearboxes used steering gear grease, not gear oil.
One last question. Do you know where I can get the gasket for the sector shaft plate on top of the bearbox (it uses the 3 bolts to hold it down and the plate has the sector shaft bushing in it). I just need the gasket....
however, I suppose I can cut my own gasket to work. Does it have to be a certain thickness?
thanks!

The 2 sector shaft bushings ride on the sector shaft itself. Dunno what that circular part is called below the sector shaft cover.
It has a basic part number of 3651 but there's a black star next to it which means: Not serviced by itself or not serviced.
But, it is furnished with the cover, according to the parts catalog pic (Illustration Section 35.1, page 2).
C5AZ-3580-E .. Sector Shaft Cover / Obsolete. If interested, let me know.
There's no "one last question" when you own "old rolling piles of misery!"
