Unhappy e4ods cant swim

well, i really done it this time i went off roading and sunk my front end in 3 feet of water. well i got it started and drove home, approx-40 miles. today i drained the transmission,it was a mess pink milky fluid every were. put the filter in new gasket and now my transmission wont shift past second- it goes all the way to 60 mph. and when i was backing up the inspection plate started gushing fluid is their any way to save my transmission. without spending 2000 dollars or further more is it worth it (my vehicle is a 1996 bronco 5.8 351w with a 191xxx on it. i already know how stupid i am and my old man already tanned my *** so please just lend me a hand i have already heard enuf bs for one day.

thanks

pretty much the only answer is it's rebuild time, or rig that sumbish with some thick gear oil and sawdust and hope it'll shift good enough for a bit so you can sell it off to some idiot

in all seriousness i'd be looking for a junkyard tranny for it. truck already has a lot of miles on it so unless it has some sentimental value keep the fixes cheap or junk it.

Looks like you should have added a snorkle to that list of offroad gear. :flipoff:

The only way to fix an e40d is to replace it with a c6 or standard shift trans of your choice

Dan, if u know anything about fords, they have had drain plugs in them for years. There is a rubber plug in the bottom of the E4OD bellhousing, take it out n rotate the motor tell j see the plug. If u do that and the pan at the same time, should take around 16-17 qts of atf

C6s and C4s you pull the little "dust" cover off the front of the bellhousing to find the drain plug.

Yep, true story. Every Ford I have had has had one. Including the cars and van.

Its a tinny pipe thread style.
