dont drive the truck anymore. you can still salvage it if you do a tranny flush. i know alot of these guys will say dont waste your time but my buddy did it with his 95 and after flushing had no issues and that was last summer.
i dont remember the exact details but you will need to buy a ton of trans fluid (full case) and a filter kit for ur trans and then un hook you cooler lines up by the tranny cooler and drop ur tranny pan. start by reinstalling tranny pan and filling with new fluid and then you will pump the new fluid thru the trans and out the cooler line. if you cant find a how to on this web sight i know on another forum there is one and i can look it up for you.
the reason most people don't know about the drain plug is because when the put the converter in, the do not align the drain with the hole in the flexplate.

you would not believe how many times i have went to drain converters on customers cars when i was pulling wrenches only to find the drain plug wedged into the flexplate.
Scrap the E4OD, cut a hole in the floor pan (or transplant one made for a manual tranny) and put a ZF 5 Speed transmission and an NP208 transfer case in it... At least I think the NP208 is the one that bolts up to the ZF.
