DVL2 - CRL Replacement Metal Backslider Latch
This latch has been going strong for over ten years.
It doesn't get brittle in the cold or soft in the heat.
If you have a glass store nearby ask if they order from C.R. Laurence.
They could probably include one in their order for you and you could save the shipping and handling.
I haven't confirmed, but I understand that, if it comes back with a price, they'll sell it to you.
I say "allegedly" because I'm not real sure how to use that site;
I've sent people there based upon the search results
but people have told me he (Ed) doesn't, in fact, have -whatever-What search results? You cannot search for parts on Ed's (all dealers websites *). All you can do is list the prices/availability.
I don't like doing that, makes me look bad.
You are getting upset over nothing.I just checked around some more, it looks like LOTS of Ford dealers still have (or can get) this part, so going to a local Ford dealer may be an option.
If using Ed's site, use E-letter-oh-TZ and not numeral zero....</WHATEVER>
If Ed doesn't have it, he can order it, it's as simple as that. You and I have discussed this issue before, and I explained to you how the website works. Guess you forgot or I didn't make myself clear.
FYI: I looked on the in-house FoMoCo Dealer Parts Locator System...Ed (Horizon Ford) has ONE =
EOTZ-1040860-A (replaced DOTZ-1040860-A) .. Sliding Rear Window Latch, a POS from day one / Available from Ford.
Applications: 1970/89 F100/350 / 1990/94 F150/250 / 1983/93 Ranger (except 1990/93 Super Cab) / 1990/93 Econoline.
It doesn't take too long for the plastic hinge...after being folded back/forth to latch/unlatch the window...to break off.
If the prices come up on Ed's (all the dealers *) website(s), the part is still available from Ford...with one exception.
If you see: This item is discontinued below the descriptions, the part has recently been obsoleted. So, in parts parlance, it's C = Cancelled, Obsolete, Not Serviced, Not Replaced.
* ALL the dealers websites are operated by FoMoCo, so every dealer will list available parts...whether they have them...or not. The dealers can customize the sites inre to what their discount price is.

When I refer to searching his site, I mean entering in any part number and hitting the gray Search button.
Very often it will list both a price as well as "This item is discontinued" but will nevertheless allow one to Add to Cart and purchase.
I have tried to purchase things before from other Trademotion sites, given them my money, they came back saying they don't have it and can't help me.
This was years ago (before FTE) I believe some dealer in Texas.
And, more recently (during the past, say 4-6 months), after having sent people on FTE over to Ed, there were at least 1 or 2 times when people said smth like "Turns out Ed doesn't have it, what else can I do."
For example: E5TZ9275KA
I sent Ed (or whomever handles the partsguyed.com FTE login) a PM asking for specifics of how the availability & purchasing should work but never heard anything back, and, last I remember, you were supposed to be on a cruise for the summer (although medical issues may have altered that plan, I don't know).
So, lessee if I have this correct....
I enter in any random part number and hit Search, it comes back with availability & pricing results.
Much of the time, it will say the item is discontinued but will still allow one to Add to Cart and purchase (a conflict in terms if you ask me).
If Horizon doesn't have the part, I think it was you who told me clicking on Add to Cart will send to Ed an e-mail informing them they'll need to get it so they can sell it.
Is that correct?
So, you're basically saying that, if the trademotion site comes back and allows one to purchase an item, it is available to Horizon (even if they don't physically have it) and should be able to sell it at the price that's returned?
I suspect there are "many" people besides Ed who are trying to handle these purchases, perhaps not all of them are clear on the procedures?
But it's just as likely that *I* am not clear on things.......
These sites are only used to get the prices and for parts availability, there is no way to use them to search for parts.
I have the way, because I have access to the FoMoCo Dealer Parts Locator System.
When a part is obsoleted (This item is discontinued) Ford carries it "on the books" for one year. When the year is up, "This item is discontinued" goes away, and so does the part number.
After one year, you'll get: No Parts Found.
Yes, I realize it's confusing when it says that...then says add to cart. But that's FoMoCo's doing, because they (via trademotion) operate the sites.
If the prices appear, and there's no "This item is discontinued" jazz, every dealer can order it...if they do not stock it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E5TZ-9275-KA .. Fuel Sending Unit / Obsolete / This item is discontinued,
but...There are 31 available from 11 FoMoCo Dealers, according to the parts locator system / 21 more on PV // Last MSRP: $188.98 // Dealer NET cost: $113.49.
