Taking intercooler out

I did the CCV mod a few months ago and I want to pull the intercooler and clean it out but I have a feeling before I dive into it you guys could give me some pointers on how to go about it. It looks kinda complicated, do I have to pull the radiator or condenser? or do I pull the support above intercooler? Thanks guys

Pete's gotcha covered. pull the support above the intercooler. no need to disturb the radiator or AC condenser

John , and for anybody who has pulled their intercooler , can you post up how much oil was cleaned out of their intercooler ?? I too did the CCV mod a month ago and was thinking about cleaning it too but not sure if it is worth the time and also what to clean the cooler out with .

Thank-you for your replies .

There is prob not enough in there to justify it. I wouldn't remove my 7.3 IC unless I was replacing it w/ a 6.0IC

I understand where you guys are coming from but with my luck I'll be the one guy that ended up having gallons of oil in my intercooler so the way I look at it is better safe than sorry

I agree with Andrew on this. I will be pulling my IC and tranny cooler and replacing both with 6.0 as soon as I get my truck back running on all cylinders. Hope I receive my RiffRaff boots Monday.

I've never gotten out more than a couple of ounces, the volume of air that moves through there is so huge that any nothing has a chance to collect in large quantities.

I work on intercooled vehicles all day long. (Turbocharged VW/Audi gas and diesel engines.)
What I always have happen when I pull a CAC tube is a few drops of oil run out of the intercooler and that's it.
It's also worth noting that the intercooler is the low point of the intake system the way that they are mounted-down in front of either the right or the left front tire inside the front bumper cover.
Any oil that would accumulate would be found there and it's never more than a spoonful.
