It's a 1988 Bronco II and I just changed the high pressure fuel pump under the driver's seat. I got it all back together and a leak started at the output of the fuel filter, which is further up closer to the engine. So, I replaced the fuel filter and clips and now the leak is at the input to the fuel pump. Only one o-ring came with the new filter, so I tried putting it at this fuel pump inlet and I tried it without the o-ring and it leaks either way. Suggestions?
Cant help you there buddy. Ive never changed my pump on the BII. I did re-wire it tho Sunday morn. while it was still cool outside. been 108F here in texas last mth. had to run a new wire from 20amp breaker on rt fender to a switch under dash,,left side, then from switch to pump. PO mickey-moused a wire from ECM relay directly to the pump up over the tranny,,,arg. now I can just flip the switch and turn on the pumps..at least noone can start it now unless they know the procedure/switch location,,haha.I have other theft deterants anyway. hope you get it fixed and dont have a fire. I have a Helms book for reference,,better than that haynes book.
Thanks DFW, I was actually born in Arlington, TX. Just down from the new cowboys stadium location.
I figured out that you have to put thread tape on the screw on fitting on the new fuel pump or it leaks like crazy. This was not a fun job by any means. On your back with fuel and rust flakes everywhere and electric wires nearby. You're right, changing the fuel pump on these rigs is a fire waiting to happen.
