I've been wondering why my 5.4L sounds so grumpy at take off and then so quiet at speed.
I'm assuming this ain't factory? Looks like a flowmaster but can't find any markings on it.
I want to get dual exhaust (yes I like the look) but can't figure if I want Magnaflow or Flowmaster.
What I'm looking for is performance (is there even such a thing--rhetorical) and pure-wood-developing raw rumbling noise! Not the kind of noise that pisses you off every day but the kind that if you want to pop the throttle a bit you let the awesome guy next to you know that this truck ain't no slum.
My friend recommended glasspacks-- I replied
Any recommendations? I'm trying to figure out tips and placement-- I'm thinking straight back is the best bet?
I even thought about doing a dump, but that might be too old school.
Check on Youtube- everyone and their brother has exhaust clips of any different brand of muffler. I personally like the sound of a FM but to each their own.

Not sure, prob slash cut. Those are two factory rolled tips on there now, just for the time-being. I've been pretty busy with work, and just too lazy to get serious about looking . Maybe next time I get a rain day I'll do some searching. I'm open to suggestions though. I did look at black RBP and similar but I don't know how black will look with the "bling" package I have.
Out the side like that was my idea too before I saw yours. I couldn't really do chrome because nothing on my truck is chrome. My steps are black, bull bar will be black, and my Harley headlights and tail lights coming are black. Pretty sure black is my plan LOL.
Flowmaster SS409 exiting on behind both rear tires with a Flowmaster 40.
I'd have to get the kit and a 40 muffler and maybe sell the 50 muffler or get a deal with exhaust shop. The cat back kit doesn't come with anything but a 50 muffler.
My buddy pwrstrk97 got that kit * I think * and he had wherever he got it from swap out the 50 for a 40-series. I'd have to check with him, but he got a kit like that or it was that and put it on himself.
It looks good and has good reviews-- was watching the video.
My days of installing stuff is over LOL-- I think I figure out my issues.
The previous owner threw on a CAI and an exhaust-- everything I've read has said if you change the intake to a CAI you have to reprogram the 5.4 because it will run lean due to the increase in air. Explains a few things.
In the works-- new exhaust and a tuner from Mike @ 5 Star.
Considering mine has some insanely low miles-- I'm not worried.
Less than 15k so apparently he bought these goodies and went broke. Why else would you sell off a f'n AWESOME 5.4L.
I just need a tuner badly-- I can feel how lean it is LOL.
I kept my X3 from the diesel, just sittin' there all alone in my toolbox... Maybe some day. Keep me posted how you like yours, and real-world stuff. We both know what to expect when plugging in a HOT custom tune to our diesel I'm curious to get your take on a custom tuned 5.4 Giddy-up! I hear Mike is " The Man" to custom tune these so let me know your thoughts brotha!

Yeah I will bud! I hear the same about the guy too.
I either do that or I sell off tr CAI. It's bad dude.
I'm at half tank and 203 miles :/
I still love her. I emailed Marty-- I want a 6" BSD lift.
