Ford vs. Mercury any difference?
I have an opportunity to buy a 55 Mercury y block and I was just wandering if there was anything special about the Merc or is it a Ford with a different name?

A 1955 Mercury came with 292 cubic inch engine, as did Tbirds, and some optioned models of station wagons of the same year. Carb was Holley model 4000 4V, 400 cfm. Probably has dual exhaust. It is basically a 292 Y-block. Rockers would be the lower ratio. Cam wouldnt be special. Distributor is Loadomatic.
