My 2000 F350 has ESOF. My question is if I buy the Warn locking hubs can I just plug off the ESOF vaccum lines at the hub? When I turn the 4x4 **** to 4x4 it won't be in 4x4 until the Warn hubs are locked in , is that correct? Will I need any special warn hubs or will the ones that Clay offers on his site work? Thanks for any help guys.
X2 you have the right idea, and the warns on Clay's site are the correct ones. There are two models, the standard and the premiums. Both will work as long as you order the ones for your make, model and so forth.
Rather than plug the vac lines at the hubs I re-routed the vac lines under the hood. On my 02 the esof and the hvac both get their vac from a T on the vacuum reservoir, see pic. I pulled and capped the T (blue cap lower center of pic) to keep it clean. Tracing the hvac line back, there is a connection near the blower motor. I unplugged it there (out-of-focus white cap right of pic) and re-routed the hvac line straight along the fender. It is juuust long enough to go in where the T used to be on the reservoir. I even found a convenient hole in the fender to mount one of the line retainers on the hvac line. The vac connector is a bit bigger than the original T that was in the vac reservoir, but wet it with your lips and it'll go in. So now the hvac still gets uninterrupted normal vacuum, the esof is capped w/o vacuum with all the parts still in place in case I decide to rebuild and reinstall the esof hubs.
I was too poor for the Warns and got Mile Markers in my sig at Summit (I think) for $95. They work just fine.
I did mine the same way. I didn't bother cap the other lines. They no longer have any vacuum. I ripped out as many line as I could get to and tucked rest where every I could. I pulled the hose barbs out of the hubs and used grease fittings to plug them. Now I also have a way to grease the needle bearings and keeping them full of grease keeps any water out.
