Also, and i know that coolant can loose its integrity and still look ok, but i would like to add that my coolant is still pretty much a clear light gold color, pretty much what it looks like right out the bottle. So i know looks can be deceiving but thats what it looks like. So i made a appointment to drop my truck off tonight and they are going to take a look at it tomorrow.

So i know they have a better way to check these things out, test the sensors, things like that. I just hope it doesnt rack up too much $$, im getting ready to go on vacation next week! lol.

And i know i jinxed myself in the spring when i was talking to a couple people about how well my truck was doing, cause since then ive had to do my power steering pump, the steering shaft, and now this. Id like to hang on to this truck but if its gonna continue to go down hill i might be better off trading it, even though id get crap for trade. The dealership im taking it does have a handsome grey Screw with 70k on it for $17,000. lol

Love my SCrew, even though I'm beating around town in the wife's TSX this week while she's out of town. Fun little car...not easy on it and still getting 25mpg in town.

Get 'em to work up a trade offer for you while they have it. What year is the grey SCrew? Which engine?

Its a 2006, 5.4, XLT, it actually has 74000 miles and are asking 18285, that sounds a little much i think, but NADA puts it at 20k. And for trade in on mine, i still owe pretty much exactly what its worth trade in. So id probably not make out that much.

They also have a 04 XLT with 77k miles for 15125, but after all the things ive had to do with my 04 i dont think ill have another 04

I'd agree with you there. Really late 06+ would be best, considering the cam phasers, etc.
Washing your hands of your truck wouldn't be so bad, you just don't want to take a hit.

Ya, i really dont want to take a hit, this truck was supposed to be my "get me out from upside down, cause my two other cars before this really took a crap" truck, and thank god i got the extended warranty on this truck cause it more than paid for itself with early things.

I was trying to hold off on getting a new truck till this time next year cause at least i would have some equity. Although even if they would just pay off the truck and i would start fresh i would be able to lower my payment about $75 a month. Im just scared to death about having another truck that i know nothing about and having to possbily do all the same things to this one.

Would you be able to negotiate a pay off and have them give you another extended warranty? At least you'd be covered there.
The good thing is that you now have all of the knowledge to take care of the little gremlins that could pop up.

Sorry to be "spending your money for ya", I happen to like new toys too. The wife has to keep me in check.

Im not sure what all id be able to negotiate. And i know exactly what you mean about toys, that is what got me in trouble, lol. I was all good at one point, I had a 93 silverado all paid off along with a paid off cavalier, then i sold my silverado for a 97 s10 blazer, that engine crapped out within 3 months with no coverage, so i got 2002 blazer, it was fine. I stopped and asked about a truck one day about six months after i bought the blazer, ended up walking out with a 05 explorer with 7k on it, drive that for 2 years (should have kept that one), decided i needed a truck, got a 03 silverado that was abused and ended up trading it off in 6 months for this F150. So over the past 5 years ive cycled through 7 vehicles, plus i still have my first car i got when i was 16, a 89 camaro.

I would recommend putting a new Motorcraft thermostat in to see if that cures your problem. Orielly's can order one or get one from your local dealer. Gates or Stant make good thermostats also. Does it run cooler if you turn the A/C off?

Tested the original thermo in water and it just opened a crack at 195* but really didnt open up fully till 210+. So that would go along with my temps i was seeing while i started seeing the higher temps before i swapped thermos. So Djack, it might be a crappy federated thermo that is waiting even longer to open, hence my higher temps after the thermo change. So im gonna call the dealership in the morning and tell them that and tell them not to be afraid to take out that new thermo if they feel the need. Should the thermo open more than a tiny crack at 195*?

This might seem like a silly question but, is your radiator inundated with bug guts? You might want to try hosing it down. If you've got a lot of buildup on the outside it will eventually impact the heat exchange. Also, at 105K miles a flush is in order and a motorcraft thermostat.

Usually a thermostat is opened completely at set temp. If your fan clutch is bad it could cause some fluctuation but it sounds more like the tstat. I've had an aftermarket thermostat that had a larger opening than the OEM and it overheated because the coolant circulated too fast to cool in radiator. Replaced with the OEM size and it cured the problem. Hope you get it cured.

Ya after testing the original thermo it was not opening completely at the 195. So that could have been my problem. But then I made it worse by putting in a federated aftermarket that might not be working correctly.
