Fram locking gas cap doesn't fit?
For some reason, the rubber stopper that sits just under the gas caps lip won't compress to allow the gas cap to lock once it's on the filler neck.
I was wondering if anyone has had the same issues with the same gas cap?
It seems odd to me that something from LMC that is gauranteed to fit on our years of trucks, won't fit on my truck...
And for those of you who may ask.... yes... I'm putting it on correctly... the lockable fingers that grab onto the filler neck metal just can't reach far enough to actually lock...
Any help?
Here is a link to the style that you need. You don't mention what year or truck you have.
Non evaporative emissions truck require a deeper-style cap because the tangs are located farther into the pipe. What you probably got was an evaporative emissions style cap for a non evap truck.
I know the Stant G-774 will fit on a non-California 1978 F-150 - I have one on my truck.
I don't live in a province with any restrictions on emissions, so I got the non-EEC tank because that's the set-up my truck had.
And yes, it sounds like I've got the wrong gas cap... weird... LMC still said it would work with my year and my type of tank...
I'll have to buy that stant, thanks very much!
