Hey. Need a little help here. I have a few questions concerning buffing. I have a dual action buffer and need to know what type of bonnets to use to apply and remove wax to my truck.
I've heard to use a wool bonnet to apply from one person, but the next person might say to only use a terry bonnet to apply.
So I come here to get the advice of the experts. I'm using the McGuire's 3 step polish/wax system. I've already done the roof by hand which is prompting the use of the buffer. By the way, the Mcguire's system leaves a really nice finish.
On all my other vehicles, I've used terry to apply and cotton t-shirts to remove by hand. Give me your suggestions !!!!
I use the terry cloth bonnets because I think they work better with the dual-action or orbital buffers. You really have to be a professional to use the wool ones, because they collect and hold so much of the product. you can really do a lot of damage with them if you don't know what you're doing, as where the terry-cloth is a lot more forgiving. They don't last nearly as long, but to me it's just the "cost of doing business." I buy a bunch of them and change them frequently, and I throw the dirty ones in a bucket full of water so the product doesn't set up before I launder them.
Maguiar's is good stuff, I've always had good results with it. But do yourself a favor: use a clay bar to remove all the contaminants first (Clay Magic is one). It makes the rest of your job a lot easier.
