So i pulled the old AD injectors out of my 7.3 and noticed this.
One injector had burnt on textured black oil deposits totally covering the bottom 1" (shinny part) of the injector. Even the orange O ring at the bottom was black, couldn't tell it was ever orange and the brass washer at the tip was black. Black, like an old cast Iron skillet that hasn't been washed in 5 years. Actually had to use a green scrubbie and gasoline to get that black burnt on sootie oily deposit off.
I am assuming thats from a bad injector cup or an injector hold down bolt that became loose? Although the bolt was tight.
Replace the washer at a minnimmum, mine would get new cups, washers, injectors serviced, and a compression test, but that's a personal choice! Hoh many miles? Witch injector? What led you to pull injectors? ect....?
This is why we always say to check the injector hold down bolts for the proper 120 in/lbs of torque.
Good routine whenever you pull the VCs is to check the injector holdown bolts, rocker pedestal bolt torque (20 ft/lbs) and ensure that the UVCHs are tight and that no wires are chaffing.
