I'm planning on replacing the stock 7.5 in my 96 F250 and am looking for a good horse power range on the remanufactured motor. I'm riding on 38.5 w/ 4.88 gears and an E40D tranny. I want something that will pull well and have solid street ability. So far this Talledega 460 is the best reman 460 I've found @ 400 hp and 470 ft-lbs @ $2999. Has anyone run these engiens and how is the performance? Thanks.
the factory efi won't run that engine, well it might, but it won't run properly. not to mention the e4od will get all pissy with you if you swap to a carb because the efi computer sends signals to the tranny. if this is just a toy and you want more power chances are you'll be looking at ditching the efi and e4od and going with a carb and c-6, or you will spend more on aftermarket computer junk than the motor costs.
dan i could find thouse parts easy for him if the price was right
i doubt it joe. there weren't many made. i found a guy with all the stuff for sale like 3-4 years back, but he wanted a lot of coin for it so i passed. it would be nice to have a built injected bbf though.
Alright so pretty much everything I have including the tranny I just rebuilt is ****** if I want over 375 hp. If I swap to the C6 and carburate the current 7.5 I have does anyone foresee any problems. Just trying to break up the costs since I didn't plan on replacing the tranny AGAIN. How's the perfomance on the stock 1996 7.5 with a decent carb and intake?
