Lightbulb idi N/A performance

So after I install my new injectors and set my timing provided that cures some of my problems I am interested in pumping out more power from my 1990 F250 7.3na. I have a friend wanting to make a sheetmetal intake that will allow us to move the air filter forward so I can force air in through a scoop in the hood. I want to know if anyone offers headers for a diesel. Also are there performance camshafts offered for this engine? Every one around me laughs that i'm the only one with out a turbo thereby I'll never have any respectable power. Well I know it can be done and know it wont be easy but if I can get proven parts instead of reinventing the wheel I would much rather do that.

There are performance camshafts, and there are headers...but i've never heard of anybody getting a lot of additional power out of them. The cowl or hood scoop intake is a good idea. But I say if you are wanting a heck of a lot more power the only things you can do with a N/A setup is to increase as much air flow as possible. Make it as much air as you can and then turn up your IP and add a Pyro gauge to monitor your EGT. Tap the exhaust manifold on the drivers side for that. I did that before I went with the Banks turbo thats on there and I got some decent HP outta all that. If you were running the stock air can I was gonna recommend the soupbowl mod but your not.

any idea of the manufactures whom make the cam and headers? Yeah first thing I did to the truck was cut the sides off the air cleaner housing and install a flat air cleaner lid from a gas motor to increase flow from its original Ray-wel power plus mkII unit. Made a huge difference cant believe some one bought that as a performance adder. Really wanting to see what will happen once the filter is shoved up through the hood.

Sunny beach! Time to put those new injectors on a different motor, its been my experience that some engines run best before the quit running, forever.

that total bs if the only thing that make a motor not ever run agin is if u crank a block or blow a hole in it and imho i have never seen a motor run good befor it blows up ur motor is probly fine if its not burning huge amounts oil blowing smoke out the tail pipe oil in the coolant u probley just had old *** injectors

Jose, a gas motor that leans out will really run good just before melt down, especially a two stroke.

Unhappy

yeah that block isnt gona function again till it gets melted down and poured again. went out this afternoon to pull the pan and as I looked up I seen a three inch portion of the block laying on the cracked starter. Rod broke at the wrist pin on the far right rear piston, apparently then falling against bottom of block pushed through that and tore pan down the side musta had contact with the starter too before resting hanging strait down in pan with a slight bend.

I just replaced the injectors, thats probly the problem. most likely had no compression on that cylinder and hydrolocked from the looks of the rod. see other post.

Wow this post scares me, we are doing this job on ours with original ip/injectors. It runs pretty good and all of that but I have had knocking injectors at times and wonder if its down on power.

Did you think you had it timed good by ear when you were driving it around? What was the smoke out the tailpipe like?
