Front porch

I love siting on my front porch. Especially on nights like tonight. Nice and quiet between the sounds of fireworks and thunder. Both God and my neighbors put on a beautiful display of lighting up the sky. I love being out in the country in indiana. With a view of fields and farms in the distance.

What kind of view do yall have off your front porch ?

Most times in the year, I can see across to Clay Millican's house. He's a multi-national-champion in the IHRA.

From my back deck I can see the sky over the other side of the river (Arkansas) so I can get an idea of the weather - that's the direction bad storms come in from.

At night - especially now, with the fireflies out - it looks like a fairy light show outside, with airplane lights high and low (FEDEX planes fly over constantly- their hub is in Memphis), fireflies in the woods, and stars overhead un-dimmed by most of the downtown light pollution

The cooling breeze blows slow and softly over the fields that were over 105 degrees in the day - the land gradually gives up its heat to the night sky

Come morning - everything is coated with a silver shimmer of dew that will vanish as soon as the sun is well up in the sky - but for a few hours the land is refreshed, and the air smells clean, sweet, and soft with moisture that green leaves are drinking greedily of all around...

When the first birds cheep, breath deep the mornings blessed air...
So sweet and fine!

~ and carry that memory with you all day

* as usual, I didn't mean to write something like this. But I like it.

From the front porch, I can see Spanish Peaks down along the southern Colordo border with New Mexico. That is when the smoke isn't choking the air and view! Back patio, neighbors, but I can see Pikes Peak from my back yard, again without smoke.....

Man alive - can you post about three pics from that view that can be put together into a panoramic view?
(overlapping images shot from the same point)

I can assemble them into a pan view...

I live on the south edge of a small town "on the other side of the tracks" in an ancient farmhouse with dilapidated barns. There wasn't a tree on the property when I moved here 20+ years ago but there is a bunch of 'em now. There are plenty of black squirrels that busy themselves digging in the ground looking for what they "planted" last year. Across the road, a raccoon made himself a home in the hollow trunk of a maple tree by the back door of the old farmhouse where an 80 something year old widow lives. I get visits by the deer (rats with antlers) that have taken an interest in my apple tree and what is planted in the garden. Possums visit occasionally. A family of ground hogs reside in the old barn. In the evening of the warm months of the year, you will find me by the fire pit in the side yard, waving to friends and motorists as they pass by. Not much going on in Indiana but that is the way I like it.

The pines and oaks of East Texas is our view. We live way out in the woods, about 10 miles from the City of Cut & Shoot city limits. Nice and quiet with lots of wildlife and trees.

That's what I love the most about Indiana, small town with nothing much going on. Biggest thing I'm looking forward to is the tractor engine show and a free slice of blueberry pie.
