cool, well if you get the patches done, could i get a pair also, im gonna see if i can find the merq lettering and emblems
I just sent an email off to a company to see about pricing. I just know that small run productions ain't cheap...guessing at least $150-$200 for a pair of badges. But this is the price to look legit.
If I can design a simple enough badge and use Photoshop to get the point-to-point dimensions, I can use that to write a CNC program for my brother to cut 'em; but, that will make the time to final product very long since he has to use whatever free time he has at work to cut them.

As for now, I need to get my truck on the road...
as long as they are free and look good im fine with the wait, I just think this would be cool to have two people with the same badges to see how many people we can make think "when did mercury make a newer modle of the truck and FOR THE US?!" lol, I recall you saying "why should the Canadians have all the fun?" and I agree with you on this, plus my friend had one of the Merc trucks imported from canada but it was totaled by a drunk driver at an auto show if i had known we would be doing this little project as a what if i woulda had my friend haul the heap to my place to salvage all badges and what not
EDIT: well i usually have wonderful ebayfoo but my ebayfoo has failed me at the moment (its 0201 in the morning) but i didn't find any badges we could use for our little merc project...but ill try a few other sources like my google/yahoofoo and see what i find for ya!
I've been browsing eBay myself. Something will turn up eventually I'm sure.
Thinking about this more...the grille would probably have to change to be most accurate. Most Mercury vehicles used vertical slats for the grille. So the traditional F150 grille wouldn't give the correct appearance.
Quick photoshop...also with hood ornament and hood lettering replaced by recessed grille letters...
The front of my truck is so crooked, I only did it up quick; but it gives the overall idea. Problem is, the only aftermarket grille I've seen for these trucks are the horizontal billet grilles...so it'd have to be completely custom. But it doesn't look as weird as what I had originally pictured.
This is certainly different. I can't say yet if I like this idea or not.
To pull it off, it would need just the grille emblem, the fender badges and a smaller Mercury logo of similar size in place of the Ford letters on the tailgate. It would also need chrome grille, headlight doors, mirrors, and bumpers.
I just replaced the clock spring last week and was looking at the air bag...seemed very similar to the one in my buddy's '92 Grand Marquis. Need to find what Mercs I could rob an air bag out of.
if i remember correctly, Fredric used a crown vic coumn in his 94 pickup.
so maybe a grand marquis air bag will work
Good good good. That will make it easy then. Even if it ain't blue, dye's not hard to find.
I wanna start spending money on this project, but I'm still waiting on the title of the truck...then gotta get it through Maryland inspection...gotta keep focused...Since my truck is an XL, I'd like to eventually spruce up the interior to more XLT standards to be appropriate with the LS theme...
