Almost done

Can some help - Got a 96 ford F-150 with a 5.0 with 3 codes that pop up at the same time when my ck eng. light comes on - They are, p0443, purge valve C fault - p0401, EGR flow insufficient - p1409, Manufact control auxillary emission controls - I have replace all the related parts, vaccum lines, ck grounds, ck wiring harnesses that I can think of - I was wondering if these compoents connect somewhere other than the PCM? Any ideas would help.

Could be EGR valve itself, DPFE or EGR flow valve, i've changed all together on my previous truck.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes?

Is their a way to clean the carboned passages other than intake removal?

disconnecting the battery will not fix this problem you have a exhaust flow prob its common for carbon to build up.

any way that works , keep poking with a welding rod , screw drivers , drill bits any thing that will fit in the holes ! you most likely will have to pull the manifold off to do it , you could also send it out to get tanked , some place were they boil engine blocks out !

Try clearing all the codes, unplug the vmv, drive it for a couple of days and see if all the other codes disappear except for the p0443. My truck keeps having the same p0443 code and it is somehow triggering a transmission overheat code p0713. I took it to a tranny shop that proved the transmission was fine and the false code was probably from the pcm/ecm. If I unplug the vmv the transmission code goes away but I still can't find out why.

427 Mike, I am having the same problems with my 96 f-150 with a 5.8. I have bought a new pugre solenoid and that did not work. I have a friend who is a Ford Mech. and we replaced the temp sensor in the transmission Sat. The problem is that I have to have it inspected this month and with the p0443 code coming up, it will not pass inspection. If anyone has experienced this before, please tell me the cure befor I pull all of my hair out!!!

I had the same problem with my previous F150, i tried with few product such as combustion chamber cleaner, no results. A old mech told me to try with water, once engine will be to normal operation temp, remove air entrance from throttle body, ask to somebody to keep foot on gas pedal around 1200-1300 RPM (engine doesn't runs idle due to the disconnected Master flow) , then put water with bottle or something like that on throttle body in small portion each time. It's a good option to remove carbone.

jvh16, I was told the vmv only gets a command from the pcm/ecm when the tanks are under 3/4 full. I filled up both tanks, cleared the p0443 code, and went straight to the smog station and it worked. I'm not sure if I got lucky or not so double check what I have told you. My truck burns very clean and the vmv actually works but the computer says its not. Did your overtemp code go away. Mine only gets the overtemp code when I plug the vmv connector in.
