Water Pump bolt question
Okay, so pulled the water pump
Question (sorry no photos) there is a long bolt at about the 4:00 o'clock position, the one below the outlet house.
Does this bolt go through an oil passage?
All the bolts were dry (except for the gray goop) minus this one, it was covered in oil when it came out/
This engine had(hopefully had) a few leaks and one was right in this area.
Thanks

I've done 2 water pump R&Rs and no oil on any of the bolts.
If one went through an oil passage oil would most likely drip from the bolt hole. Never saw that happen.

I've torn down the whole thing, but I am not really looking into taking off the front cover because I already put the HPOP and bowl back on (Yeah, I know, stop whining)
I resealed the oil cooler already, I thought that might be where the caked on oil was coming from. There has always been a small drip down the front since I bought it.
This engine had a fair amount of gunk in that area, so it was/is almost impossible to pinpoint the leak.
craptastic, I don't even want to consider a cracked front cover or worse.
Keep em coming guys any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I just changed my w/p a couple of hours ago and all the bolts were oil-free. Just some gray goop on them.
