I've been looking for a bed rack for a while now and havent been able to find exactly what I'm looking for so I think I'm going to end up fabricating my own. I'm handy enough with a welder to do it, but I can't find a place to get the two vertical pieces that match the contour of the cab. All the other components are straight so that's easy, I just need the two sides.
My problem is that I have a 6" lift and I can't add any more height to my truck if I want to get into my garage still. I have a couple inches to spare where I am now, so I want to build the rack so it just barely fits in the garage, or make it two piece so I can add the top 4" section to the rack when I need it. Here's a sketch i just whipped up, the parts i need are in green
I bent the two end peices with a pipe bender the cut em and welded them together to make the horseshoe shape. Mine was more for looks and a lil work. Your looks like it will be used more. You can make some pockets toward the front of the rack or right in front of a toolbox I you have one for storage. Better than down in your bed in the way or under stuff.
