Junkyard find

Ok, today goofing off at the UpickUm and came across this 1960 f-100 so went to work and got what I needed, ashtray, wiper pivots, cap for MC and battery tray.
After I left got to thinking maybe I should have gotten something else that I might need later.

So the question is, when you find your year truck in a yard, what do you pull or do you just get whats on your list?
Craig

I have a 223 so left the motor alone

I usually get whats on my list and then grab a couple of other items if I think I will use them later. But I always kick myself about half way home for not getting other items I think of. My pull a part is 60 miles from the house so I don't get down there as often as I would like.

I'd get all of the glass if it's in decent shape and all of the trim and badging. I'd probably pull that grille and bumpers, if it has any. Maybe even the tailgate if it's there and decent. I'd especially pull any small parts that are not reproduced, as long as they're in decent shape.

No, but I did pick up my first wrench at 6 years old. At least that's what my dad tells me. My dad is a retired auto mechanic after 30 years of working on cars.

I'm just thinking of what would re-sell and what would be hard to get if the parts get damaged on my truck.

Since I have a farm with lots of space I sometimes will buy the whole vehicle if it`s a 53-6 and reasonably priced. Of course there are afew left overs......

Enough left overs will make a meal, Moe.

Eventually you could build another.

It is a step side and I have a style side, same Tailgate?

It has the big rear window and I have the small, but the windshield looks
better than mine, no edge bubbles, so Sat trip is on.

Take the tailgate and rear fenders. They are easy to take off. You can sell them to any guy that has a 53-72 flare side. Take the doors if they are in good shape. It is always good to have a spare. I have a spare set of doors and teh 54 grille and gravel pan in my loft above my garage...

I agree with Abe. I'd still take the tailgate and rear fenders. I'd also take the rear glass eventhough yours is different. You shouldn't have a problem re-sellling it if it's in good shape and you have the time to deal with the sale. What condition is the steering wheel in? Maybe worthwhile to take it as well.

Plus, since it's a holiday weekend, isn't there a sale?

In my case those left overs make a fleet...
I`d certainly grab the big back window too if at all possible.

I don't know the answer to this, but does the rear of the cab separate to make yours a big window. That's what I'd be looking at.

I thought about cutting the rear of cab as well, but it's too much surgery to put it back.
