NO BRAKE lights. unless I push down hard

I don't know why but is there some sort of adjustment for the brake lights to turn on ? I have to allmost lock my brakes up to show lights illuminated. My truck does have the adjustable pedal option Thanks in advance and pls Help. .

The switch could just be damaged. Have you looked under the dash to see if it's in one piece or not?

I checked everything underneath. It all looks good does anyone know if there is a adjustment for the brake lights Thanks.

This forum covers 1997 through 2006 Expeditions and Navigators.

Some use a Stop Light Switch and some use a BPP (Brake Pedal Position) Sensor to control the brake lights.

Maybe if we knew what vehicle you are asking about, someone would jump in and answer your question.

So turned out it was the switch. One of the copper pieces broke and was causing a short circuit

Turns out this issue with my 2004 Ford Expedition was the switch. $44 at O'Reilly. Upon inspecting the old switch, there is discoloration on one set of the copper contacts. For more info, I found this YT link:


Pretty easy. 5 minute fix.
