Help on a 96 7.3

I bought a 1996 F-250 7.3 5 speed. It had not been ran in over two years. I but in two new batteries and filled the filter with diesel clean. I was going to turn it over to get the diesel to the injectors. I didn't unhook anything to stop it from cranking. It started right up and ran a little rough, after about 10 min it cleared up and ran fine. I drove it around town over the weekend with no problems. Today I crank it up and the engine light came on and ran like grap for about five min. It cleared up and the light went off. About twenty min later the samething. It will happen off and on.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and replyes

It could be a thousand different things. Did you check the air filter for rats nest or any blockage? How about the motor, any signs of animals chewing on wires? If you can get the oil warmed up, change it. When it did run, did it run good? Get the codes for trouble shooting. Keep us informed.

Read the codes, and that will give us something much more solid to go on.

Sorry, Glenn. I only read the OP before posting.

But yeah, do like Glenn originally said and get the codes. That will do a whole lot to help us help you.

If you have not changed the oil/filter yet, I would do that too. We need good clean fresh oil to run properly. When our oil breaks down it starts to foam up and it won't right.

Algae is a possibility but I stored a 81 Jetta diesel for ten years and it fired right up and ran for months with no problems. Do that with a gasser.

O.K. I had time to mess with truck a little today. Had a friend of mine, that works for Ford bring his scanner. # 1 and # 3 not firing. O.K. twenty of yall jumped up yelling > I Know > I Know. Yep harness fried. He took the oil cap off and with a light, you can see it.
So next weekend I will be working on the 96.
He wanted to buy it. I told him no, untill I get to fix it !
I ask him what he thought it was worth. If he thinks its worth that much, he can have it, when I'm done.
Thanks for all of you responding.
I will keep yall posted.
