New tires

I was just browsing the net and looking up some tires to replace my old (bald) Toyo's. I think the Goodyear Duratrac look good. On the Goodyear site the LT325/65R18 says the min rim width is 9". My rims are 8". How are some of you guys running on them or are you replacing rims as well?

Whatever tire you buy...

Copy down the DOT number and look up which plant manufactured it.

Make sure to the extent possible, it comes from the same plant / produced in the same month / year.

Do not buy tires much older than 1 year after it is made, unless you have to and you are getting a screaming bargain.

Even if the rim minimum is 9in and my factory rims are 8in. Just a little concerned.

DOT Tire codes decoded:

Tire Tech Information - Determining the Age of a Tire

All the D.O.T. Tire Plant Codes

No tire over 7 years old should be used unless you have no choice.

A 325 is roughly 13.5" wide. I would not suggest running an 8" rim on them. That said I know of people with a 10" rim on 15.5" tires so really you should be fine, its just not something I would do.

EDIT: Mind you this comes from a guy running an 12" rim on a 12.5 tire haha

You should be fine with an 8 inch rim. Ive seen lots of trucks running 35x13.50s and 37x13.50s on stock wheels. Like Ian123 said, there are lots of people out there running 15.50 tires on 10 inch wheels.

i would say you could run them on the stock wheel. i've seen guys doing it. i'd think the tire would wear a little funny seeing how you are not getting a good contact patch. general rule of thumb is to have the tire 2 inches wider then the wheel. 325/65 is almost a 35 inch tire and requires a leveling kit? my new set-up is 325/60/18 Faulken WildPeak A/Ts (basically a 33x12.50) on an 18x10 wheel. i had to pull off my front flaps due to heavy rubbing. still have some rubbing on the inner fender. 325mm is 12.7 inches wide.

I just looked at a set of BFGoodrich All Terrain TA. The only size for my truck is 305/65R18. They stall are for a 8.5inch rims. They do look tuff.
