I just looked at a set of BFGoodrich All Terrain TA. The only size for my truck is 305/65R18. They stall are for a 8.5inch rims. They do look tuff.
This is what I currently have on mine. They look like the perfect size for our SD's. Been very happy with the BFG's 40k miles and they may go another 5-10k.
It's just a bit smaller then my 185/75 Toyo's but still a bit larger then the OEM's They do look rugged and I was told that these tires where first desighned for the snow and then redesigned for all season/all terrain.
I found a place here, that has them in stock $1600, installed, balanced, taxes in, out the door.
The #1 reason I bought them is for the snow. I tow a snowmobile trailer in the winter and I really need tires to work then. They do work well for that. I paid $1300 back in 07 for mine.
I do winter camping. We got stuck in a snow drift this past winter. This will never happen again. I was with my 12 year old and about 3 miles from our camp site, when we decide to turn back. No place to turn around so we backed up and moved slightly off the trail and into a drift. Took about 1 hour with the weather getting bad and started to get dark. Not something you want to happen with a 12 year old by your side. Never again.
Oh believe me, I understand. I travel in some of the worst weather I've seen in the winter and on roads that you can't even tell are roads. My biggest fear is my truck failing on me because I'm miles away from anything or anyone.
