My E4OD rebuild

I bought a 96 F-250 XLT in January, ext cab, LWB 4wd 7.3L. I got it real cheap because the E4OD was dead.

when I got it apart, I found the Center shaft that connects to the Overdrive ring gear is twisted in half. this caused damaged to the Overdrive planetary carrier and torrington bearing, which scored the alluminum center support/carrier that bolts into the middle of the case.
checkout the pictures of the broken aparts. It may not be immediately obvious, but you're not supposed to see day light between the center shaft and the hub

It appears the broken shaft cause some alignment issues with the Forward clutch drum, since it directly attaches to it. this alignment issue cause a sealing problem and effectively "smoked" the clutches. the drum is score on the outer surface from contact with the case and on inner hub sealing surface. It may not be immediately evident in the pictures, but the hub surface is score and the 2 metal clad sealing rings are welded in place. The clutches are beyond crispy and were welded to the inner hub (I had to pry them off with a screwdriver) 2 clutches had some clutch material left on them and the outer steel plate is black from transmission fluid being cooked on.
