mp3 player advice 2005 F350

My 2005 F350 has an AM/FM 6 CD indash factory stereo. On the front of it is a button marked "AUX" which I assume means I can hook up my mp3 player to play through the stereo. But when I push the button, the read-out says "NO AUX".

My question is this: can the factory stereo play mp3's, and if so, what do I need to do to make this happen?

The mp3 player is a MicroSoft Zune, if that matters. Thanks for any tips provided.

You need an interface, which is why it says "no aux" I believe the 05 radios had a little plug with 4 wires and a 2.5mm jack. I think it needed the voltage from a player for the radio to "see" the aux and connect up. However, there are several companies that make some specific interfaces if you're interested. Check PIE :: Precision Interface Electronics and iPod Integration for your car and More by Pac-Audio - Connecting you to the future for two off the top of my head.

Thanks for the reply. I looked over the two sites you gave me there, but not being sure of what I'm needing, they were'nt of much help at this point. My truck's radio does not have a jack on the face of it to plug in anything, only the "AUX" button. I've had people tell me that all I really need is to go to Wal-Mart and pick up an FM converter kit to play my Zune. Is this true? It's my understanding that what the AUX is for is to "find" the mp3 player and play it through the factory system. Is this not the case?

I've been to the Zune website and looked over what they have, but again, not knowing what I need, have'nt bought anything. And the owner's manual (yes, the truck had one when I bought it, which shocked me somewhat... they tend to get lost in my experience) told me absolutely nothing.

Sorry for my lack of experience in this whole thing. This truck is the first one I've had that did'nt come with more than a cassette player... which if it had, would be no problem, since I have a tape player to mp3 player converter.

You can do an FM modulator, but you select the frequency on the modulator and tune the FM radio to that channel. It basically is a tiny FM transmitter just powerful enough to be picked up by your radio.

The Aux should search for an interface in the case of an external device(sat tuner, Ipod interface) or an impedance/voltage from a player connected to analog feed.

This is the adapter I expect you need Vehifit - Information page
