radio question

radio question

i have an xlt and i was wondering would it be as easy as getting the headunit that comes with the nav and having it installed? if so what kinda money are we talking

I believe this would be pretty expensive. The nav headunit new from Ford goes for somewhere in the neighborhood of $2,500. Seen used ones posted for sale at around $1,500. To get the navigation system working, you also need the GPS module. Not sure if that is in all trucks already, or just the ones that come with the navigation system. Pretty sure Ford also needs to program the radio for your vehicle by VIN, which I have heard is around $3-400.

Sorry man, I wasn't trying to rain on your parade. I think for the money though, you would be better off going with an aftermarket headunit with the navigation built in. I have heard that the Garmin based ones are excellent!

You could always go aftermarket...JVC, Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc.
