Hello...I have a 2000 7.3 f350 ...im having problems getting the engine to turn over sometimes ....it cranks strong but wont turn over....this does not happen all the time just at the worst times.....it will eventually turn over....could take 1min or 1 hour....batteries are good... its starting to happen more frequently though. Any ideas??
Check your icp sensor, unplug the harness and check to see if there's oil in the sensor. Leave it unplugged and see if it cures your problem. That's what it sounds like to me. Its a common problem.
It could do a number of things when it goes bad, or is going bad. The oil in the sensor could be shorting the sensor out, if there is oil in there ofcourse, the o ring goes bad and allows oil to seep in. Another possibility would be your cps, and you should have one as a spare anyway. They cause strange symptoms as well. A worst case scenario is your lpop is going bad and its taking a while to build oil pressure. There's a few possibilitys but hopefully its just a sensor..
Well it happened again....so I pulled the icp and it didn't help....talked to ford and they think its a hpop....any other suggestions....how easy is the hpop to fix?
I wonder if the HPOP is bleeding down the oil? Does it only crank like that after sitting a while? Next time after sitting over night pull the plug on the top of the HPOP and see where the oil level is. It should only be down about 3/4" from the top. I second the possibility of a bad CPS also as a quick easy check.

There is a long post in a thread that I hope someone will post up that says and goes into detail of why.......
