alright guys i have a L99 6 speed and my brother ROB'sf250 has a 01 6 speed exact same mods and he is selling his f5 to me and i was wondering if i could just take the chip off of his truck and put it on mine or will i have to send it back and have it reprogrammed thanks
Make sure that you have your gauges in first. And as Tom had said make sure that your PCM codes are the same. Call Jody or James and they will be able to set you straight on that.

It gets a little tricky when you get to the 99-03 SD's, let alone it being a manual. There are federal trucks and California codes trucks from 99-03. Some manual trucks in 2001 got a different DPC family pcm. I do not know the cut over date. The very best way to know absolutely is to pull both PCM's and look at the white bar code, find the DPC-### to see if they match DPC-family numbers.

I just thought that since Jody programs the chip based on the VIN number of the truck he could look up the PCM codes for both trucks
We prefer to know exactly what the pcm calibration code or dpc family code is now. We had too many incidents where information was not entered correctly in the system originally.

I dont know the Superduty PCM's all that well but I know Ford really well.. I run a SHO shop only specializing in SHO's.. With a bit of other Ford cars up my sleeve.
On the SHO all 96-97s will work with each other and so will the 98-99.. I would have to guess that the superduties are also the same, was there a difference in any of the systems? egr added?? airbag??? theft??? If not I would say yes.. the reason why the pcms wont change over is because they made the 98-99s with a different processor and changed to 2nd gen air bags.. id be surprised if that info in not here somewhere for the superduties.. Also there are better PCMS to use than others on the SHO with more pids to adjust..
If the trucks are identical, I might check out the pin out for the two pcm connectors but Id have to say it would work.
