ok i have a delema. i just bought a 2006 F350 single wheel. King ranch, studded, bullet proof egr, new oil cooler. basically the same as my truck described in the sig. My question is i can get more money selling my dually than i can this one. dually has 143000 on it and this truck has 168000. only thing thats holding me up is one i love my dually, two i know my service on my tranny and oil and gears have all been kept up. now i know 99% that this tranny hasnt been serviced before nor has the gears. (also if i do, do the swap im going to switch my lights and programmer over and whatnot) anyways money aside what would you do. keep the dually and have to buy 2 extra tires and get worse fuel mileage or keep the single wheel and save fuel and tire cost and get more power.
I appricate all imput! also FYI on a side note my dually is my first truck and my baby so its kinda hard to part with im sure yall understand that
Well, I have the ultimate answer for you. If you tow...
I had a dually, then sold it and got a SRW. Shortly after I regretted getting rid of the dually. It tows sooooo much better, and is so much more capable. Never realized how much I'd miss it till it was gone. Thankfully some lady couldn't see my big Blue 350 SRW and totaled it. So I got to get a dually again.
I don't need a dually, but I want one. It's just a lot nicer for towing. If you don't use the dually for a dually, then I'd probably part with it. If you do, let me know about the recon lights. I'd buy them and trade out the none recon stuff! LOL
yea recon lights would go up for sale. the mirrors wouldnt though because i have them on the other one. i do tow. sometimes alot and other times not really. im in school most of the year but its also a backup truck for our company. so if for some reason dads goes down he grabs mine so he can keep going. (he doesnt mind either way what i do) so yes in the summer i can tow alot or if business is slow i dont hardly tow a thing. and right now we are slow
I really do appricate it! honestly i wish i could shake your hand and say thanks for the advice but i guess reps will have to do. but let me throw another loop into it and see what you think. if i sell the SRW i make around 6k. if i sell the dually my dad (its a company truck) will pocket 8k and i pocket 6k and have basically the same truck just SRW. and i get a new exhaust and RR out of it. so the money thing makes things more difficult. i would hate to cheat my dad outta money but he said he doesnt care about that he just wants to see me make money on this truck. i know its confusing but i hope you understand it if not i can try to explain better
Makes sense to me on the money thing. But here's the way I look at it. I lucked out with mine getting totaled, but had I decided to go buy a dually again, I would have spent at least what you are going to make to get it, then do what it needed. Your lucky the srw has what needs to be done on it already though. I understand why it's a tough decision to. I guess you'll need to weigh the happiness with the trucks vs. the money...
yea i know the happiness/emotional attachment to the truck always gets in the way of money. i guess another thing though is its just a machine. only thing that is really keepin me from saying ok is i know the tranny has never been serviced and im afraid if i do service it that im going to run into problems because of the mileage on it already
yea i know the SRW will tow just great. towing im not so worried about its just the trucks in general. do i risk a tranny or do i stick with mine which i know is good. its just hard to give up a truck that i know has been taken care of and what not vs going into one that idk how its been taken care of
See now again I can vouch! When I got rid of my old dually and got the SRW, I ended up putting a lot of money into it to make it right. 8 injectors, caliper brackets and brakes, sway bar links and bushings. I do the work myself, so it was just parts. But still, over $2,000 just like that...
I still think you'll do fine either way. It really sounds like it's a 50/50 decision for you.
haha i do like that!!! this one has a new ficm and what not. i am great friends with the machanic that did the studs and what not and the machanic is one of those machanics that when their gone you know you wont find another one like them. he said its a great truck and i know exactly what he has done to it. brakes arent that big of a deal to me. most used trucks need them anyways so i was planned on that. and Rusty your right its more than i machine but if i say that then its harder to think about selling if you know what i mean
