Which amp battery should I use for my 75 f100 w/390? I need a new one pretty bad and want to make sure I get the right one. I'm just buying the cheapest I can find, but the correct amp.
I dunno about the "right" amp rating but my rig runs a Duralast 500 amp battery at nominal temp and 625 amps at 32F.... and 80 amps in reserve.
'haven't had an issue with it since I don't have a high falootin' sound system but am planning on a bevy of offroad lighting in a few weeks. I'm have a 3G altenator (still uninstalled) and will go dual batteries to run the accessories off the spare and having the option to self-jump.
Look at the CCA (cold cranking amps) rating. The higher the number, the better. Of course, the price of the battery goes up with the CCA's.
Original factory specs probably only call for 550CCA's... That will get you by, but may not be so good if you live in a colder climate. You should be able to find a good price on a 600 - 700 CCA at Wallyworld or one of the autoparts chain stores. Most of those come with a 2 or 3 year warranty too.
