223 Inline 6
We are currently restoring a 1957 Mercury Pickup. It has a 223 Inline 6 Cylinder in it. Can anybody tell me the engine bolt torque specs on this engine? Also is there anything else I should know about this engine? Thanks

I'd look for an old Chiltons. Mine only goes back to '66 so it would be just guessing although there are several of the smaller 6's covered. I used to go to the library and photo copy the torque specs from older chiltons manuals whenever I came across something I didn't want to buy the book on. The Colorado Springs Library had a pretty full set that couldn't be checked out - reference ONLY, but they would let you copy any or all...

Cylinder head 65-75
Intake Manifold 23-28
Exhaust manifold 23-28
Rocker Arm Shaft Brackets 45-55
Connecting Rods 45-50
Main Bearing Caps 95-105
Flywheel 75-85
Crank Pulley 85-94
Spark Plugs 15-20
These are all foot pounds.
