I have a 2011 F250 6.2 crew cab 6.5ft box 4X4. I got it out to tow my 30ft travel trailer Sunday back to the house to get it ready to go. The problem is that I noticed a humming noise coming from the truck when the engine is off and the trailer is plug in to the back for the brakes, lights, battery charge etc. It goes away when I unplug the cord from the truck it goes away. Has anyone else notice this on theirs. I can't tell if it does this when the engine is running because I can't hear over the engine noise. I had a 2003 F250 6.0 diesel and it never made that humming noise but then again it had 2 batteries under the hood. Just would like to know it I leave this sat. if it will be a problem.
I hear the same thing. But when I was hearing it was when I had the engine block heater plugged in then I unplugged it in the morning. I sometimes here it after I open the doors, but I never notice when and if it goes off. I have never had any battery issues so I figured it was just normal for these larger truck and all the electronics on them. I work with cable tv and you see some weird things with electronics and the way the work and keep working for no reason.
I have heard this humming too, but I did not have any external connections to the truck. I noticed it after cycling the key on and off without actually starting the truck. After starting the truck and shutting her down, no more humming.
How the trailer plug would affect fuel pump?
I would rather suspect that the brake controller takes some time to confirm the truck is parked. I have few years old Progidy and it takes several minutes to go to sleep. Logic of software programmers never make sense to me.
Or maybe it is the fuel pump priming itself with fuel. Thinking you open the door or plugged in the trailer, we are leaving lets get ready to start. Just thinking out loud.
I never had time to look at it when it happened. When we hook up to come home I will see if it does it again and will poke around and see if I can find the source.

I will take a closer look also just didn't have time yet getting ready to go on trip sounds like it maybe the ford ""normal" thing agaain.
There are always at least 2 ways to deal with the things you don't understand.
I am mechanically inclined, so I like to know what is at the bottom of that.
My wife on the other hand is not. When she had tire pressure alarm in her SUV, she just pulled the plug on the monitoring system.
Just got back from one week towing trip and I think what the buzz is that the built in tow brake controller takes a few moments to connect. All these new electronic things take some getting use to.
