Okay I finished installing my new EV2's this evening and when I turn the key on my GPR LED lights, so far so good , and that's where it stops being good. Boost guage is on 40 goes to 0 and back to 40 and doesnt change when truck is idling. I know it won't show anything with truck idleing, but it shoulldn't be pegged on 40 with the key out of the ignition. Trans temp guage is is on170 which is where it was in the box. I know it's not gonna move either until I get it out on the road. Here's the next thing, I have no guage lights. I hooked it up just like it says to the dash dimmer and nothing. I am pretty sure I have a good ground. I have the GPR LED ground and the Guage ground at the same place under the dash. Could this be the issue??? I am getting ready to go 400 miles to New York and back and really don;t like the way this is going. HELP!!! Tom
Time for the wiggle test. I'd start by shaking the ground wires and connections. Then wiggle the rest of the wires and connections on the back of the gauge. Also consider removing it from the dimmer just to be sure you're not getting a low voltage issue from that wire.
Yes, I installed the dimmer that came with it and "daisy chained them together. As far as I know I did everything the way the directions said it should be as well as a little help from Clay. I know it HAS to be something simple and stupid. I just don't want to keep messing with it until I figure it out. I don't want to burn up a new set of gauges. Thanks, I guess I'll start wigging tomorrow.
When I did my gauges at Man Town last G2G I had a similar issue. Turns out that I didn't cut all the way through the insulation on the wires when I pressed them in to their slots. I hope that yours is as easy of a fix.
Get a meter if you don't already have one. Check 12vdc at your gauges with the key on and also check for a good ground. For the ground check the resistance between a known good ground and the ground to the gauge. It should be very low probably less than 1 ohm. Just put one lead on a know good ground and the other at the gauge ground. If all that checks out call the manufacture. With my autometer pyro gauge it was not reading right and called their customer service line. They had me do a basic check and determined it was bad and sent me a new one. Good luck.
Turn that dimmer switch all the way to the right. Wes and I had the same problem this weekend. I left hid shop thinking I had no lights afterwe troubleshooted everything. Then I decided to turn **** all the way and they lit up.
i hooked joes into the factory dimmer also per instructions . im thinking that the leds need a certain voltage to light and than can be turned down . my gauges (autometer gs leds) are hooked to a straight switched power on the light switch and than thru a dimmer switch from auto meter. ive found that some times i have to turn them up to fire off and than dim them to match the dash lights . maybe that will help instead of hooking to factory dimmer go to straight full voltage.

That would be my guess. You probably have the 12v or ground not biting down all the way in the daisy chain connection or the 12v connector at the other end isn't getting juice.
You guys are the greatest! I will be checking ALL this out this evening. I hate being against a deadline like leaving on a 400 mile trip towing a 6K pound trailer. I was really hoping to have these done before now. I guess if worse comes to worse I can just unplug them for the trip.
One question though. Would a bad ground cause the Boost gauge to act like it is when I turn the key on? When I saw that I knew I had an issue but was out of time for the day.
I just want to thank all of you that responded to my plea for help. They are up and RUNNING!!!! Wires needed to be punched down a little better. I said it before but I'll say it again THANK YOU CLAY!!!!! He took the time to talk to me about this 3 times in 2 days till we got it fixed. Great person to deal with. Thanks again to all. Tom
