Steering Gear Box Year/Model Application
Hey guys I was wondering if anybody knew what steering boxes fit what year of trucks. I have a 96 f350 that needs a new steering box and I have some mid 80s and early 90s f250's in the back 40 but I'm not sure if they are the same box.

Steering boxes are wheelbase specific. If you have a longbed crewcab pickup, then you need a longbed crewcab steering box. The steering geometry changes depending on the wheelbase.
But to be honest, I don't know what would happen if you used the wrong box. I would guess that the tires would scrub when you turned. Your tires might wear out quicker, but I don't know how it would affect handling.
