WOW im a little confused. Thank you in advance for any ideas you may have. 93 f150 4wd auto 5.0 has 35 psi at the rail, checked plugs and they are firing, can hear both fuel pumps as it is a dual tank setup. I used a test light on th injector wires and it gets a pulse. The dang thing wont start when you turn it over. The day before it did this it would stumble very bad when you accelerated and I just got it to start. turned over a long time and stumbles when you accelerate. shut it off and no start. 40 psi at the rail when running. unit has a new fuel filter. what am i missing?
Not an expert but 40psi seems high to me, unless at wide open throttle.
Maybe pull the vacuum pipe off of the fuel pressure regulator and look for any signs of gas in it. If any found replace the FPR.
Also make sure the vacuum pipe is good.
book says 35-45 but no leak at the cannister and no smoke out the tailpipe and plugs look good and fire. however the exhaust does smell rich if you turn it over awhile
The book is a little high on the idle number of 35 unless you have a vacuum leak.
The idle should be more like 32-34 and the 45 is with all vacuum removed from the Fuel Pressure Regulator or with pin #6 of the self-test plug grounded, key on and engine not running.
I have a high dollar gauge that will show 45 with #6 grounded and a gauge from an auto parts store that shows the same truck at 40 with #6 grounded, key on and engine not running.
So a lot depends on the gauge you have.
I understand but does that explain why it wont start? Seems like it is getting fuel, air, ignition. You can see by my avatar what I know how to work on lol! That and semis I am good at but this i am not. I can take it to the shop but i figured with a little help i could tackle it.
When it does not start try holding the throttle wide open and see if it starts then.
WOT while cranking will turn off the fuel injectors and start a flooded engine.
Did you do the test above that Lazy K asked you to do with the Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR).
thats how i got it to start the first time but wont start now. the one time it did start as soon as you hit the accelerator it almost died. when i let off it came back to life and i drove it into my shop. wish i knew how to t shoot this. chiltons doesnt say much and i have no reader. fuses all good and check engine light on until cranking but it wasnt on when i drove it.
You do not need a reader you can use the MIL (check engine light) on the cluster to check the codes.

ok so i get a 33 a 1 and a 33. 33 i think is for the egr valve but 133 and 331 dont come up on your list for codes so im not sure bout that. however the battery was down and wouldnt charge so i replaced it and it started right up. as soon as i hit the throttle it died. i cranked for awhile and feathered the throttle and it started and if u feather it it will rev up and run fine. seems like it runs very rough and shakes at an idle. fuel psi was 32. so i shut it off and it will not restart. let it set for an hour and feather the pedal and it started and ran the same. shut it off and no start. where do i start here.
